Post the VIN from the frame. It can be used to decode the year. There should be a couple letters around the 8th or 9th digit in the VIN. This will denote the year. I have the cross reference, but can't reply without knowing the VIN.

I forgot to mention. If you're a paranoid type about posting the VIN, just change the last 5 digits to XXXXX so no one knows the bike ID. If it's a 1981 or newer, the VIN will start with JS1RF. Just make sure you have the string like this posted: JS1RF14A_L21XXXXX (The X's are in place of the actual bike ID number for security purposes. The "L" in the above string denotes the year. In this case, the L stands for 1990).

If it's a 1980 or older, your VIN will start with RM125, followed by some other numbers. They did not use alpha characters in the VIN to denote the year. I have this cross reference chart too.

I have a rm 125 engine in a go kart and want to know the age any ideas? it has a double lift povervalve controlled by a camish thing on the waterpump drive, water cooled

Look on the engine case, there should be a number stamped into it. Reply back with the number. It can be used to decode the year on most MX bikes.
