Your bike is running lean (too much air and not enough fuel). What, if any, modifications have you done to the bike? If you changed the exhaust out for louder pipes, you need to adjust the f/a (fuel/air) mixture in the carburetor to compensate for more air going through the bike. Let me know here if you have made any type of mods to the bike.
I have the same problem !! I just put on Jardine shotgun pipes and they have caused the bike to back fire!! Does it need to be rejetted or do I need to adjust the pilot screw?/
Cheers
Mike
I have a 2004 1100 sabre and I also had this problem. I has some backfiring stock and and when I put the cobra slashcuts the problem got worse. I did fix it tho. Honda's have always been known to loose the midrage when not enough backpressure was present. This also causes popping on decel.
I ordered some baffle's inserts from Thunder Mountain Baffles and I now have no popping 99.9 percent of the time. These are inserts that go in the pipe for my appliccation before the cobra baffle.
Also the cobras blew out the glass at about 3000 miles so with a rewrap of glass of the baffles my bike is a whloe new machine.
The way I wrapped the cobra baffle was I wrapped one loop with the sheet glass and then I had pruchased some fiberglass stove rope , The largest diameter, which ran about 40 bucks for two baffles and wraped it tight. Bike sounds good and hopefully the glass won't blow out anytime soon.
oops, my mistake. Its called thunder monster baffles
