Check the oil level in the gearbox. The only thing that would make that kind of noise is a bearing going dry / bad. Use 10w40 motor oil in the gearbox. NEVER use synthetic oil. Synthetics can screw up the clutch.

Kawasaki Vn250 hard to start when cold

Hi, Anonymous before you start it in the morning, pull the spark plugs and sniff them. Do they smell like gasoline? Are they wet? If so, you may have fuel leaking past the needle and seat in the carburetor and flooding the cylinders.
Use a voltmeter on the battery an hour after you shut the bike off. It should be at least 12.6 volts. Check it again in the morning. It should still be 12.6 volts or more. If not, something could be drawing current when the key is off.
If it's a carbureted bike and the ambient temperature is warm, you may be over-using your choke/enrichner. Try cranking it with the choke turned off first and then try half-choke, and then full choke. If you start with too much choke it will flood. After it starts, shut the choke off after 15 - 30 seconds and then use the throttle to keep the bike running until it warms up. Over-using the choke will soot up your spark plugs.
A fresh set of properly gapped spark plugs can make a lot of difference in how easily a bike starts.
Engines need a richer fuel mixture when they're cold. An intake leak can also cause hard starting because it leans out the air/fuel mixture.
After you get the bike started, spray some WD-40 or carb cleaner around the carburetor intake manifold seals. If the RPMs change, you have an intake leak.

Honda Pantheon 125 will not start hot

Hi, Bojtren and the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ignition coil.
2. Faulty spark plug cables.
3. Faulty temperature sensor.
4. HISS light not going off.
5. Faulty starter motor.
6. Valves adjusted too tight.
7. Spark plug gap too wide.
8. Fuel has vapor lock.

My son wanted to ride in the 12 degree weather-2003 Suzuki 2003 drz 125. He went to twist the throttle and heard cracking sounds and now the throttle does not return to the original position. Could he...

Yes it is possible to make it work,he has to dis assemble carb slide anyway,so while it is apart he can try it,should work though, doesnt hurt to give it a try.

DOES NOT WANT TO START GOOD, BUT RUNS FINE. HOT WEATHER YOU CAN GET STARTED, BUT COLD WEATHER FORGET IT. ADJUSTING CARB DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP.

Its a 4 stroke trail bike. They never like to start when its cold. Just make sure the plug is good and make sure the choke is actually working. Other than that, kick it until you get mad, then kick it some more and it will eventually start.

Would mobil 1 synthetic 10w40 be a safe alternative for a 1989 fzr1000 with 14000kms?

Good quality oil is the cheapest form of insurance!!!
there are realy great synthetic oils around now!
it also depends on the weather extremes that you ride in!!
10 w 40 is a safe bet!

Starting

Hi MeenAMDude!
Check the battery connections, make sure they are tight and secure, and also look at the starter relay (underhood). It sounds like the starter is not getting a strong enough electrical shot to fully engage... If these are OK, replace the starter! Person who checked the starter checked it when cold, when it DOES work--- They might not get the same results with the starter hot!

Hope this helps and good luck!
