Hello. It seems the starter itself is wore out. The solenoid powers the motor but is not 'kicking out' the pinion gear to engage the flywheel; not like it should anyway. The 'whirring' sound is the starter; the 'grinding' sound are the starter and flywheel teeth not 'meshing' right. Remove and replace the starter. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Yes. The computer has no idea where any of the pistons are so it doesn't know when to spray an injector or fire a plug.

Hi, 3 things you should be checking for is Fuel, Air, and Spark.
You didn't tell us about the fuel. Does it get fuel? Does it get air?

Just a idea here, but I have heard the the fuel pump is also powered through the oil pressure sensor, the fuel pump relay starts the bike, and then the oil pressure switch takes over, as soon as it is running, caused by the oil pressure, that way if you tip it over, you loose oil pressure and it will kill fuel so it doesn't keep running.
So in therory, if you cranked it enough, build up oil pressure, and presto,,, it's running.
I'm sure that a real Harley mechanic can do better.

its vapor locking losen the fuel cap if that works then replace it!!!
