OK to clarify my problem before I had the voltage regulator replaced the battery would run down just sitting there or after about 4 cranks and the batery would be dead. The lights would come on then the gauges started sticking as if it did not have enough power to light up again. I replaced the battery and took it to the triumph mechanic He said it was the voltage regulator. I had it replaced and rode it twice and now the lights stay on with the battery charged but it does not turn over. When you push the start button it clicks once. I check the battery again and it is almost drained. I have no clock or anything that stays on.

Do you have an anti theft device fitted? If so try and disable that and see if the problem remains.

battery only last about 3 years and if the battery is chargeing to fast this can case a plate in the battery to crack witch ont alow the battery to keep a chage. you can see if the battery has a draw on the battery by disconceting the battery and putting a dmm on the (-) side of the battery and them take the the other wire ( ) of the dmm and run it over the battery but and if any volts come up you have a draw wich is draning the batter

2003 Ultra Classic fuel injected model. Generally runs well, but at times (seems when it's been run hard for an hour at least) I see the volts go way up around 16 or 17; it normally reads 14.5 volts Soon...

Your Voltage should never get that high. Anything over 15volts is bad news. Try Testing your Regulator. First do a Bleed Test.
REGULATOR BLEED TEST
Be sure regulator is connected to battery. Unplug the stator connector.
Use a trouble light and clip it to a good ground and the other to the regulator pins, one at a
time. If light comes on regulator is bad.

Charges ok, battery was replaced, connections cleaned and painted, ran fine for almost three months, then battery went flat again, checked altenator clleaned and greased connections, van ran fine for any...

I would check and clean any wire and connection between the alt and the battery and all grounds. Also check and see if charging voltage is the same at the battery post as it is at the lug on the alt.

Ok, I just got a new battery and coil ignition bwd.I also had my alternator re-built about 2 weeks ago,but my battery light still pops on when i turn the headlights on!my belts seem to be tight enuf. is it...

if you have a multi meter,
check voltage at battery with car running, should be at least 13-14 volts,
now turn on fan motor to high, flashers on,radio on, and check voltage at battery, regulator should have adjusted voltage to handle the load, should still be 13-14 volts,
now turn all that stuff off,and turn on headlights and recheck battery voltage,if below 13-14 volts replace regulator,if voltage is spiking higher than 14volts replace regulator.you do not need other belts.

Battery goes dead while driving ck out put on alt ok at the time replaced computer same thing also it may start working ck all elect connection 2000 4x4 jeep cherokee

Hello. If your battery is not charging while driving, often it is due to low or bad voltage from your voltage regulator, which is also in the Alternator usually on these vehicles. Your engine has been running off the battery only and draining it, not using the alternator's power. Here are some things to look for and a question for clarification:

If you actually replaced the alternator already your regulator should be good. But to clarify your problem report, did you replace the alternator or only check it? It may take several checks while truck is running to catch the problem. If you have not done so already you will need to verify that voltage (13.9 volts or more) is actually reaching right to your battery. 12Volts will not be enough, that means something is wrong and is just battery volts. Please do this test while your Jeep is running, with lights on. DC volts across the battery need to be about 14 Volts while all is on. If you don't get that either the Alternator/VR is bad OR bad connection to it.

750 gxxr will not stay charged

the voltage regulator/diodes is not working, stator wiring loose or fuse blown from reverse polarity

use a voltmeter to check if is charging
not run voltage to run voltage
NOTE full charged battery is 12.6v
would need min. 13.5v when running

or

disconect battery after is stated to see if runs?

if keeps running is OK

if not then check charging system.

if runs an still stalls when placed in gear?

2001 chevy silverado 1500 v8 battery drain after sits for 1or2day

, do a simple test on the charging system...check battery voltage. should be 12v or better. start engine & check volts at idle, no accessories on. volts should read 13.5 -14v. Turn on all accessories(including headlamps on high) volts should drop slightly but should not creep down. Definitely not below 12.5. If voltage drops lower than 12.5, the regulator (in the alternator) is not working. either change regulator or change entire alternator. Alternator drive belt should have sufficient tension so that alternator cannot be turned easily by hand. If it can, check belt tensioner.

Truck Won't Start At All

before replacing the starter get a volt meter and test the voltage coming out of the voltage regulator which the power comes from the battery to the regulator down to the starter also make sure all wires on the starter are clean and what I mean is from rust because I had an f150 that did the same thing
