Question about 2001 Yamaha FZS 400 Fazer
Yes - the stator will be in an area on the left hand side (if sitting on bike) behind the crankcase cover - there is a grommet where the wiring harness exits the crankcase cover to prevent any of that oil from exiting the crankcase - I've personally taken a few of the Yamaha's apart and can assure you that it is definitely in the lubrication area and that is normal - I have a '96 Yamaha Wolverine 4wd, a ,98 Yamaha Timberwolf and a '99 Yamaha Bear Tracker - and have rebuilt them personally to one degree or another.
