Lifan metro scooter wont turn off

Hi
we have a Lifan scooter 50cc metro. 2008 model
I wont turn off even though the key has been taken out of the ignition and is on the the stand

    I'm unfamiliar with this specific model. But like most bikes and scooters it should be equipped with a kill switch. Either it is wired into the ignition main switch (keyed ignition, or separate. First, Note whether your bike is AC or DC CDI. A DC CDI derives it's power for the spark to the ignition coil from the battery. Unplugging the positive lead of the battery will kill the engine if it's a DC CDI. If it's AC, it will continue to run from the cycling of the stator/magneto. it's likely your unit is AC. The principal behind the kill switch is to ground out the power going from the CDI to the ignition coil. On a 6 pin CDI unit 1 lead (usually on the bottom 2 pins of the 4 pin plug) is the ground and 1 of the 2 pins on the pin plug is to the ignition coil (usually black and white or black and yellow). The kill switch causes these two wires to touch grounding out the power and killing the engine as the coil and spark plug no longer receive any juice from the CDI. I would first find a diagram for your CDI and determine which two wires are where (ground and power to ignition coil), trace them down and look for any burns, scars, loose connections etc. If both terminate at the keyed ignition, replace the keyed ignition or install a toggle switch by splicing leaders into these two wires and running them to a separate switch to use a stand alone kill switch

    Most often times than not (99% of the time) the problem can be traced to a bad ground or loose connection. Problems with the CDI most usually result in a "no spark" situation where your engine doesn't run at all. In this case where your engine won't shut down is likely a loose connection or faulty ground rather than a problem with the CDI itself. You need to get your power lead that goes to the positive terminal of the ignition coil and spark plug to ground out before it gets there to kill the engine. So, theres a wiring problem with one of those two wires somewhere. Google wiring diagrams for your scoot and look in the images. trace down those two wires, correct any oddities and if you must replace the main switch (keyed ignition) or splice in a stand alone kill switch.

Have a look at the cdi plug ...one of the terminal in the plug cluster may have a broken wire or not making good connection with the cdi.

Unless you find a small "restricting washer" between the head and the exhaust pipe...Then usually there is no easy means. In the past these "washers" were put in place to reduce performance, the idea was as the riders skills improve the washer can be removed. It also was a way for parents to keep their children from zooming flat out everywhere.
