Engine Monotonous sound from new yamaha gladiator ss 125cc

I have purchased the new yamaha gladiator ss 125cc and have done 1000 km, Engine sound is more in lower gear and is monotonous mostly in lower gears. This sound is more than any other 125cc engine and irritates for long ride.
I have done my first service at 700km. Do you think the sound will go down after next service.
Kindly suggest

Hi czaa, thanks for your concerned reply, I have just completed the 1300 km and changed the engine oil at 700km during the first service.
The engine noise is more during 3-4K rpm seems like some resonant note and reduces in 4-5k and i have not crossed speed to 60 kmph in any case and the typical speed is 50kmph and the RPM never crossed 5K at any time. Also the clutch engagement is not smooth ie when the clutch is released fully some knocking is heard/ slipping of motion is felt and it reduces if the clutch lever is released very slowy but then the power delivery drops.
    Kindly suggest.

    Hello this is anand again,
I confirmed from the yamaha Service this time that the monotonous sound is the common sound for the gladiator ss engin and theres is no problem with the engine.
I feel the engine sound resembles the whistle sound and is more in lower gears. Also bike gives a knocking sound in 3-5 gear while crossing the speed breakers

The sound is being caused by something mechanical. It is not likely to go away by it's self. It will probably get worse. Don't wait for the next service. Take it in now before any more potential damage can be done. Check the oil level in the gearbox. It could be low.

If the bike is new as you have said, It should be under warranty. At least let the dealer take a look at it. This can get to be a SERIOUS and costly problem if you don't take it in. Like I said before, The sound is being caused by something mechanical. It is not likely to

Rocky, If the dealer says the sound is normal, make him prove it. Take an identical bike out for a test ride to see if the bike sounds and acts the same. If the test bike isn't acting the same as your bike, contact Yamaha Corporate and file a complaint on the problem. They will have a regional representative check your bike. Do this NOW while you still have a warranty. Time is of the essence here. Once you get out of warranty the dealer will be happy to fix it - - and charge you for the repair work. " Too bad, so sad " is what the dealer will be saying then. By the way, the clutch operation should be positive, quiet and smooth. If the clutch is acting as you say, THERE IS A PROBLEM and I would not let the dealer give you any B.S. saying that it is normal. A clutch is not supposed to knock and slip as described.

I am also facing same problem, when i Told during my 1st serice and 2nd service, they replied it is the case with all bikes. But i did not observe any such sound in other bikes of my collegues.

and gear shifting is also not smooth. Want to know what all check ups and services will be done during service at yamaha services. I found they are not cleaning any plugs and electrical plugs.

Your inputs are needed.

Thanks,
Samba

The standard service checks and adjustments are chain, clutch and brake lever play, throttle play, battery water level, air cleaner, tire pressure, wheel alignment, fork alignment, draining of the carburetor float bowl, adjusting idle speed, aiming the headlight and checking the tail light, brake light, turn signals and switches. The mechanic will do a test ride to check the clutch and shifter operation as well as engine operation. An oil change and new spark plug is standard. No one cleans spark plugs. Sand, or whatever cleaning agent is used, can remain in the throat of the "cleaned" plug and damage the engine when it breaks free. Generally, the bike and electrical connections are to be kept clean by the owner.

Yamaha gladiator ss valve cleareances

Noise seems to be generating from the rocker arm of the valve adjustment. You have to do valve adjustment only when the engine is in cold condition. ie room temperature.

At this point slip a feeler guage & adjust. first loosen the rocker arm hexagon lock nut & try adjusting the valve pressing post. You may require special tool for this!!

I own a yamaha gladiator ss 125cc bike. done just 3000km on it. if i decelerate, shift down then try to rapidly accelerate again i get sudden jerks from the bike...this problem is intermittent and...

its possible that its valve clearances, but try to isolate at what rpm range the strange sound appears at and when is sputters, the sputtering could be due to a clogged main jet in the carb and the high frequency sound ussually means worn main bearings, but I dont think that with 3000km that would be the problem, try to identify at what rpm you hear it and post again and hopefully i might be able to help
