Just brought a Honda C102 Step Through. Does anybody know if its positive earth or negative earth. I just brought battery for it.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Honda Cars.

I haven't seen one of those for 40 years!

The Braided cable goes to battery negative -
They normally have a Red Cable to the battery Positive +
And if I recall, there is an inline fuse in the positive?

Here is the cable

I have put a reconditioned carby on my eh holden it wont start cold with out pourig a small amount of fuel down the throughtof the carby onece running it starts each time perfect sit over night no go

fix the choke to work properly for starters next if you still have the original cast iron manifold then get the butterfly in the exhaust to work as well. It heats up the inlet manifold which helps to vaporise the fuel

Carborator fuel drain pontiac gto 1964 tripower

Have you ever seen a fuel drain on anything
but power equipment, small engines

I assume you have & are looking at a tripower
carb set up

Why would you need a drain?

I was around & had brand new 65 vette,327/365 carb

I never bought the 1964 GTO, because I wanted
the HI Pro 421 & it only went to the nascar & professional
super stock drag teams.

My 5.5 honda engine on my lawnmower will start but wont stay running already cleaned the carb out didnt help there is no restrictions in the fuel lines im lost please help

it sounds like a fuel problem.
first drian fuel out of tank.
i know you have already cleaned the carby but dis assemble carby and clean with carby cleaner.
re assemble carby & fill tank with fresh fuel.
also clean air filter & check oil level & check spark plug,if the spark plug is black and the tip is blocked with oil build up, then replace.

I have a kiddies 50cc two stroke no name brand bike there is spark, and petrol flow into the carb the reed valves is working well but still wont start

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your post, there is spark, there is fuel to the carb; additional initial checks:
  • determine if their is fuel inside the bowl of the carb by loosening the drain screw and determining the quality and quantity of the drained / collected fuel;
  • determine if there is suction/vacuum by closing the carb opening with your palm. it should get wet with fuel on cranking/starting;
  • check for compression. Temporarily remove sparkplug, replace it with compression gauge and crank/start engine with throttle wide open (WOT);
  • check if the sparkplug gets wet with fuel.
Another possibility is that there is stale 2T oil in the crankcase below the piston. This would prevent ignition as the air/fuel mix inside the combustion chamber would not fir.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
