Question about 2004 Husaberg FE 450 e

1 Answer

Turn Signals Won't Work

I have a Husaberg 450 EF. I put on a new factory wiring harness to make it street legal. I hooked everything up exactly to my fathers identical bike that already is street legal. I installed the turn signals, new hand control for headlight high/low, horn, turn signal, etc. The headlight works, horn, but when I hit the left or right turn signal switch all four signals come on and they dont flash. I checked the flasher unit and it is good. Also they can be turned on when the bike is not running, which I think they should only come on when it is running. The rear brake switch is also not working? Any ideas before I spend lots at the dealership? I literally checked every connection to my dads bike and all looks correct, really need help.

Using volt meter to verify polarity for each wire from your dads bike to yours, could help. Also try removing the bulb from each socket try them one side at a time (left bulbs then rite bulbs), not sure about them working when off but sounds like power coming from wrong source(battery),should be on the ignition circuit. compare to your fathers bike!

Hi, Jonti16 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
5. Spark plug cables shorting or leaking, spark plug cable connections loose, check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil, pick up coil, trigger coil or CDI box testing needs to be checked with an ohmmeter at 70 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Faulty safety switches clutch, kickstand, neutral, off/on etc.
8. Faulty ignition switch.

Can you make this bike street legal?

Yes you can. You will need to add a headlight, taillight, turn signals, and change the tires to street tread instead of knobby tires. Then you would need to get a license plate from your local Department of Motor Vehicles. It might be cheaper to just sell the YZ450 and buy a 2004 Yamaha WR 450 enduro. This motorcycle is ready to ride on the street and the dirt. Click on the link below to view the WR450:

Want to change the spark plug on my new bike - 07 yamaha yz250f. Don't have a manual, is it a big deal ?

Taking out the plug is straight foward ,you should have a plug spanner in your tool kit .But take care putting the new plug back ,and DON'T cross thread the plug ,as this will damage the head and cost a lot of bucks to repaire .

I AM ABOUT TO BUY A 2005 HUS 450 BUT IM NOT SURE OF THE PRICE RANGE AS THEY ARE NOT THAT COMMON AROUND THE TRAPS. THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS BIKE IS THAT IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY 280 KMS ON...

http://www.bikefinds.com/husaberg-for-sale should give you a rough idea. if this bike is on ebay walk away (unless you can inspect it and pay and pick it up with the proper ownership). ebay is filled with scam auctions for motorcycles and motor vehicles.

How do I maintain my Husaberg FS 450 e?

ok buddy depending on enviroment you need to clean the air filter if in a dusty environment change every 2 rides if a clean environment clean it every 6-8 rides just take the airfilter out take the cage out inside rinse it out in petrol and let it dry out then wash it in hot soapy water maybe some bleach and let it dry out then buy some SILKOLENE FOAM FILTER OIL this oil stops dirt getting further in the air filter and buggering the engine up. next the engine 1st you should change the oil every 15 hours+oilfilter just simply run the bike for 5 mins to get the oil warm unscrew drain plug on the bottom off the engine and drain it completely then put the plug back in and retighten and where the oil filter is located unscrew the cover take old filter out and put the new one in also cleaning the inside when you put the new one in and retighten the cover on once thats all done unscrew the filler cap on right side of the engine and fill with oil SILKOLENE PRO 4 PLUS 5W-40 the bike will take 1 litre or add an extra 100 for filter also you can measure the oil by the sight glass and put the plug back in run it and recheck the oil level top up if necessary and the last thing is the spark plug replace this every 2 months.next the coolant check this every 15 hours just incase.then the power washing you should buy an exhaust bung to stop water in exhaust and put a bag over the air filter when cleaning also dont spray the radiator up close as this will bend the fins and not allow cooling for the engine then will seize up.and lastly the bearing on the bike i would do this every 6 months just strip the swing and arm the wheels and steering and regrease the bearings get back to me when it has been 6 months buddy i hope this helped anynore info just email me

How to set timming on a 2003 Honda XR80 dirt bike?

This is the closest manual to your bike I can find.
http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/57...
As you can see, it covers from 1979 - 2003 - Honda rarely change their engine configurations when they make something that works.
This manual was probably last printed in 2003 - and later year bikes just added updated pages (Honda does that quite often to save on re-printing new manuals).
The XL model is exactly the same as the XR, except the XL has additional components to make it street legal - battery, head light, tail light, turn signals, horn and street legal tires

Damage check

This would depend on how you drop the bike. If it just falls over you would check everything on that side that could be damaged. It would be the same for a low speed drop. However if the bike not only gets droped but hits something while sliding you might bend the frame or suspension or damage wheels or controls.,,,

Need help 450 mx

I am new to the forums and I am currently looking to buy a 2003mx 450 It is street legal with CA plates and he wants 2200 for it. When I go check it out is there anything specific that I should look for? How reliable was the motor in the 03's? I am not sure what other questions to ask. I would appreciate any help. edit: also does $2200.00 seem like a good deal for this bike? Make sure it was street registered before the cut-off date in 2004. For the rest I'd do a little bit of reading on this site on the updates needed. At $2200 it's a good deal. ,
