FORD MAVERICKS CARS BACK IN THE 70S IF YOU SEE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT.MOST OF THE TIME IT WOULD BE ENGINE RUNNING HOT CHECK COOLANT LEVEL.IF COOLANT LEVEL LOOKS OKAY.THERMOSTAT GOING BAD.

The instrument cluster (10849) carries out a display proveout to verify that all warning/indicator lamps and monitored systems are functioning correctly. When the ignition switch (11572) is in the ON position with the engine (6007) off, the following indicators will illuminate:
CHECK ENGINE/malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).
CHECK GAGE warning indicator.
Charge system warning indicator.
Anti-lock brake warning indicator (ABS).
Safety belt warning indicator (60second proveout).
Air bag indicator.
An indicator is inoperative - CHECK ENGINE/malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
On the firewall or do you mean top of the dash ? Do you have a little red light that flashes on the top of the dash ? That is the anti-theft system warning indicator !
I have a ford maverick xlt 2003 , I have started having problems with my front brakes that feel like the ABS is constanly on when I brake. After I hear a clicking from under brake peddale for sometime.
Check your operator's manual. Make sure any and all fuses that have anything to do with the affected items are not blown and are working properly. If you can; check for loose fuse connections or wires. Hope this helps. God bless!
