I wasnt riding it. i just got it from my brother. he was riding and black ''slooge'' shot out where exaust conncts to engine and died on him. then kicker wouldnt wrk. so he replaced that(i think wrong bcuz it wouldnt spring back). so i have only been able to start for few seconds n it dies. also the clutch doesnt engage when i hold lever and have in gear bike wont move(only in neutral it rolls) i was thnking maybe when the spring broke the first time it lodged somewhere and caused the shaving i found in oil.. i have engine semi torn open but dont really know what im looking for?
I wonder if the clutch "basket" broke off an "ear"?...I hate to say it,..but you might be in for a tear down and rebuild. Start with the parts you can access, clean/fix/replace with motor still in bike..eg; clutch plates/basket, "properly" fix the kickstarter spring/gear unit,...try to find thae cause of the metal filings,..check the clutch basket..etc. GL. Yes. you may need to make some engine mounts to fit the new engine to the old frame, but you will also need to transfer the electrical harness from the RM to the TS chassis.
For a 250, you can get away with a leaner mix like 40:1 but I still race a 250 2-stroke from time to time for fun and I run 32:1. More oil = less friction, less heat, better sealing, etc...
Any idea what it was jetted to run? the difference between 40:1 and 32:1 is fairly minimal and if the bike is jetted fairly well I doubt you will tell a difference. If the plug is black it is too rich.
Hello if your motorcycle is blowing a lot of smoke and oil from the exhaust and running poorly, sounds like you have worn crankshaft bearings or the main seal is bad and sucking transmission oil.
The engine doesn't use oil,the only oil it gets is from the 2 cycle oil mix in the gas,the transmission uses 85\90 transmission oil such as bel-ray or others. I would NOT reccomend running 10\40 in the trans...
