Troy Bilt Tb70ss Gas Trimmer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 14, 2010

I have a Troy weekwacker, and after sitting this winter, it WILL not stay running. The only way to even get it to start is to load the thing with starting fluid, and then it only runs til it eats up all that. I already took the carb out, changed the gas, cleaned the carb, and nothing helps. We just bought the damn thing late last summer, ran fine always, and now it wont even run on its own please help!

Have you changed the spark plug on this unit? If all else has failed, this is more then likely the problem. Please let me no if it takes care of the problem.

Been sitting all winter with stabilizer in gaswon't start.trys but won't stay running.should I try draining gas and replacing

You'd be better off removing the float bowl and jets from your carb. I see this a lot in the early spring. People tell me they put fuel stabilizer in the tank but they still have problems. The reason is they treated the tank fuel but didn't run the engine long enough for the fuel to get into the the carburetor before they shut the bike down. Personally, I prefer to drain the carb before a winter storage. Pull the float bowl and the take the jets out of the carb and clean them out. That will probably fix your problem.

Good Luck

Old (1981)Troy Prof. 8hp tiller runs 30 sec. and stops.

Clean the carb and if this machine was kept outside all winter make sure no water in tank. I realize you stated that you removed old gas but how it was removed is the key. Try the carb thing first though.

! have a Troy built mower with a Honda engine, it quit running and will not start. I changed the spark plug, it ran for about one hour. Now the mower will not start.

Hello. If the gas has been sitting all winter, remove it with a siphoning bulb and put in brand new gas, not even gas that you have been storing all winter. Also, change your air filter. Finally get a can of starter fluid and a helper. While one person squirts a bit of starter fluid into the air intake [near the air filter] the other person starts it and use more squirts of starter fluid to keep it running. Joe

Lawn mower won't statr

you most likely need to remove the carb float bolw and clean it out...after sitting, gas forms a varnish like substance that gums things up and will keep the moter from running.....I see it EVERY spring....remember to drain the fuel when putting away for the season, of put a good feul satbilizer in the tank (STA-BIL works well)

Troy-built TB320BV will not stay running

get a can of carbeurator cleaning spray. get a helper and as one of you runs the thing, the other will give it short bursts of carb cleaning spray right into the air intake, leave the filter off while you do this.
