I got weak batt. i charge it up and stays good for a week a day sometimes a hour put new batt. in and couldnt even get lites or horn to work put in old fully charged batt. and it ran for a week before i had to recharge it again whats going on here

Ur new batt probly was not charged -the alternator/regulator is failin -inspec whole electrical system for bad wires,contacts etc--things wear with age--library in 629 has many repair guides

Have you checked to see if it is charging when the lite is on? I would change the alt the brush's get uneven and warn and decide to charge when they want to.
It could mean that the Motherboard (Main Circuit) could be damaged or could be a fuse problem as you may have said. Although it actually might be the battery, there's one way to find out, if your friend has a DS Lite, ask them if you could borrow your battery for 2 seconds and put their battery in yours to see if it is the battery, if the same thing happens, its the Motherboard (Main Circuit)
I had exactly same thing on my boat recently...which has a car motor in it. And I also charged the battery and I also had a reading that said I had charge. HOwever, I tried another battery from a car and it suddenly worked. Don't know why, but it really was the battery. When I put the old one back in, it still wouldn't start. With a new battery it's fine. Ya just never know why sometimes!! Good luck!
I had a similar problem once and it turned out to be the ignition coil. Ran fine cold but once everything was heated up it broke a connection and went dead. I wonder if you might be having the same thing but in the alternator? Just a thought.
ive found that sometimes where the batt is inserted into the gun theres two contacts down there wit a rubber pads the contacts rest against. check and see with a flash lite if one of the rubber pads has pulled away and wraped itself around the contact, if so pull it out with needle nose pliers or what ever works.if not the problem make sure your batt is good some will read 6 volts but will have no or week current. worst case repAIR SHOP.
check the cables between the batteries, and consider changing the cables that run to and through the uncharged battery. Also make sure that the batteries are not cross connected (positive to a negative) and that there is no corrosion on posts and cable connectors. I had a similar problem.
You say the alternator works so I have to assume you have used an ammeter and checked the alternator output at various loads or engine rpm's to ensure it's meeting its peak charging output, am I right? So that means if the battery is not charging then the battery itself has a weak cell and is not charging or you have a loose connection at your battery or the wiring to the alternator itself is bad or not making a good connection.
take the batt out the sys. then put the charger. wait 3 min after that turn your sys on. without the batt. if it turn on. your batt is damaged. if it dont turn on without the batt and just the power cord is there. then your power suply node is broken or just no good. if the sys goes on wait 11 min must 11 min exact. them put the batt on it and take the power cord off. if sys stays on. your ok.
