if its a basic ignition , get an electrical ohm metre and test how the wires make contact , write it down and go to a bike breakers and they will have a large selection and make it fit ! P....
carb malfunction would fit,if your bike was carbed.07 up sm's are fuel injected.check fuel delivery.filter screen clogged,weak fuel pump,fuel contamination.or electrical/sensor. good luck
