It is very common for a manufacture to us the same engine in many models. take a look at a Yamaha TTR 125 on line or on a parts breakdown. I would bet it has the same motor as your BW.
Hey Rob.. do not adjust the oil pump...The carburetor is simply a basic Mikuni,, no frills.. Take the carburetor/bike to your local qualified professional and let them clean and set the carburetor. Your point gap should be set at .014" max.. timing is 1.8 mm BTDC. - you must have a dial indicator and ultra sensitive ohm meter to detect the millisecond the points open. You also can mark the flywheel at 1.8mm BTDC and check it with a timing light. Once you set the timingcorrectly, check the point gap.. if it is not at least .011" you NEED to replace the point because the phenolic rubbing block that rides on the flywheel cam is too worn. Sounds like a new air filter is badly needed..(those years the filters were easily junked - they actually fell apart). Once you do all this..your bike should run just fine!!! . If you have any more questions about this bike...contact me thru here.. Nice bikes... we sold a bunch of them...
The "rear dropout" points are the part that connects the rear axel to the frame of the Bike. You likely have to remove the back wheel during the process of installing it.
The original carb for the '01 Fatboy was the Keihen CV carb. There are several aftermarket carbs available but if your bike is basically stock in reference to the induction system, the bike has the Keihen carb. Look on the side of the carb, you'll have to take the air filter backing plate off to see the side of the carb.
Don't wrry about hte lights sapping the battery, as long as you dont let it sit there for ever. The lights get turned off the moment you turn the motor over then when it starts they turn back on.
im just wondering if anyone has ever had the problem of their clock resetting. It goes to 1:00 everytime i start my bike. The battery is good and has plenty of power to start the bike right up. It must be the clock loses power after shutting it off or during startup any suggestions would be great.Mine used to do that too. I removed and replaced the battery op check good. My guess is that the starter would drop the voltage down to an unsustainable level for the clock to remember the time. Have your battery checked.,,,
After a lot of experimenting, I decided to try powering the Autocom with a 9v battery and that fixed the issue. Evidently, the power from the bike was dirty - I'll have to filter the power line, find a different place to tap into or remain battery powered.
Hi Folks, two seperate checks to do - to check vox on autocom and transmit on motorola. With the T5622 unconnected to anything, does the push transmit button work - e.g. does it make the beep noise at the end of transmission?
Does your autocom work with any other sound sources - i.e. mp3 player so you can hear music. Does this mute when you speak ? (it should if vox is working). Note that in this setup vox is provided by autocom - NOT BY THE T5622. The instructions you mention are for the motorola vox kit.
Wire the two together and you should get the motorola beeping through your autocom at the end of transmit - that's what my kit 200 does with my T5622.
