I to have just acquired a 1982 GS550L. I live in Smithville and Clares in Fonthill are a Suzuki dealer . Ive already bought and ordered parts from them . They have been very helpfull so far. As far as the service manual goes I ordered mine from Indigo for around $35.00 with shipping.

Need to syc carbs on suzuki 1986 gs550l motorcycle

Get a carburetor synchronizing tool and a service manual (OEM Suzuki, Haynes or Clymer). Synching a two carb engine is easy. There's only one screw to adjust, and it's usually between the carbs.

I have a 82 gs550l if i charge the battery and then ride it the battery wont stay charged and when the headlight is on it drains the battery even faster

You have either a rectifier or charging coil(magneto) issue. The rectifier changes the AC pulse from the magneto to 12V DC. If that checks out, you'll need to test the magneto. Either case you'll need to have a multimeter handy and access to the factory repair manual for the testing parameters and wiring diagrams. Good luck!

Have an '82 GS550L that has been leaking gas from the left and left center carbs whether it's running or parked. Tore it apart, nothing was stuck and seems to be functioning the way it should. Not sure...

I think you are on the right track. If manually lifting a float stops the flow of gas I would suspect bad floats. Remove a float and shake it. Anything inside? It should be lite as a feather. It looks like Babbitts has them in stock for a 550M. It should be the same part for a 550L. Please rate my answer. Thanks! www.babbittsonline.com

I need spect for cab settings on a 82 suzuki gs550l..

For each carb, turn the air screw and the throttle screw inward until they LIGHTLY seat. Now open each of them one and one half turns. This is the factory setting. If the adjusting screws are seated too tight, the jet will leave a ring indention on the adjuster screw. The ring is not a good thing and will affect performance. Please rate my answer.

Suzuki gs550l flot height

not sure on the exact specs but flip the carb upside down and look how the floats look to the horizon of the earth. Sounds silly but that is how pretty much all bike mechanics set them, just make them level to the earth. Good luck
