Question about 2000 Suzuki VZ 800 Marauder
I have a 2000 marauder vz800 my tail lights are not working. Park light works, brake light works too but the tail light does not go on what is the problem???? @
Hi, Son_splash tail light issues are relatively easy to diagnose and repair always check the tail light fuse first and make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse holder and the usual suspects are:
1. Tail light bulb element is broken.
2. Tail light bulb soldered contacts are extremely worn down.
3. Tail light bulb socket corroded.
4. Tail light bulb socket has no power and or ground.
5. Tail light wiring harness damaged from the rear tire.
6. Tail light rear fender wiring harness connector faulty due to corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.

First, it sounds simple, but do you have the correct bulb with two filaments? Otherwise you should look for a loose wire, or corroded lead.

Your zapping sound is a bit scary to me, however the tail lights may just need a fuse. The park light and tail/brake use the same bulb but not totaly same circuit.

SOURCE: why does the fuse keep
don't put a higher amp fuse in it. check the socket to look for any burn marks first , it sounds like you have a direct short in the circuit , you'll have to trace this "hot" wire from its source to the socket itself to look for contact with a ground, this is the simple solution. if that seems ok, your going to have to check all the components that the wire travels through,, ie switch. be sure too that the Bulb itself hasnt shorted. this over site could drive you totally crazy
