HI I JUST BOUGHT A 2005 TM EN300 IN GREAT CONDITION MOTOR SOUNDS AWESOME BUT I FEEL IT IS LACKING IN POWER I WAS BEATEN IN ROLL ON DRAGS BUY 250 2-STROKES HAVE REPLACED THE PISTON AND RING WHICH GAVE ME A BIT MORE POWER BUT WHEN YOU READ ABOUT THESE BIKES THEY SAY THEY WILL BEAT 450'S AND ARE CRAZY WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE CHEERS CLINT
A 4 stroke 300 will almost never beat a 2 stroke 250. The 250 could quite happily take on a 500, as they produce a much bigger bang due to their arrangement. Bigger bangs = more power/torque
Hopefully you ran it in after the piston change, and give it regular oil changes ( especially after running it in).

Removed the accessory drive belt and see if you have power. If you do you may have welded something together. Try turning all the pulley's by hand and if one will not turn then that's what you replace to fix your problem. If they all turn freely then that's not your problem.
