You need good compression ( at least 90 psi , kicking it with the throttle open) , good crankshaft seals for sucking the fuel/air into the botton end, proper point gap and timing set for spark ( spark should be big and fat,if not the source coil is weak,, this is a flywheel magnito ignition and it needs no battery to fire the plug) if you clean the carb, make sure you also clean the choke pickup tube or it wont choke. also make sure you have the slide installed in the right direction ( not backwards and the idle is not set too high at first...compression/****-good spark at the right time-proper fuel/air ratio and it will run

Does your bike have a battery? lot of the older bikes with battery and kick start need the battery to excite the ignition untill bike is running.

I bought a new battery, is it possible that I need to buy acid to fill the battery?

They should have supplied acid with the new battery, it will ruin the battery if you charge it without acid up to the required level

CK air filter,if it has one. If your getting spark and fuel it should start. I worked on a carb. for about a week cleaning etc. no luck, finally took it to a real mechanic, he cleaned the carb and it ran the next day. Don't bang your head against the wall it cost a few bucks (really few) but worth it. I'm no mechanic.

I have a 1973 kawasaki 175 enduro that wont start wheat could be wrong

spark plugs, fuel filter, carb, coil, ignition, fuel line. Any of these could be wrong and even quite a few other things could be wrong. More information on what it does and does not do when you try to start it is needed. Does it have compression, does it have spark, does it have clean fuel. Has this been stored for a long time?

MY 1969 YAMAHA ENDURO WONT GET SPARK OR FIRE IVE CHECKED EVERY THING I NEED SOME TIPS FAST

Fisrt check the plug and plug cap. Remove this and see if you have spark from the HT wire.
Check points are clean and points gap and make sure the wire is not shorted out and you have spark there.
If not, remove the HT coil wire and condensor wire and check for spark at the points again.
If you have spark then the bottom coil is ok and then connect the condensor wire and check again.
Connect the HT coil wire after checking no shorts and if you have spark at the points and still none at the HT side then your coil is probably faulty.

I have a wr 2004 250 it wont start ive changed the spark plug oil an filter an nothing it sounds like its going to start

Remove the plug and reconnect the coil pack to see if it has a good bright spark. If yes, do a compression test. If you are at least over 100 psi,see that your carb is clean, and not gummed up with old fuel.

I have a 1974 dt 250 same as an dt 360 the bike has sat in a barn about 4 yrs it will not start removed and cleaned the gas tank went thur the carb new plug used ignition coil compression about 50 to 75...

Compression is too low!

Replace the piston rings.

Also check continuity from engine to frame till high-tension coil...
Check if breaker points aren't dirty ( clean out with fine sandpaper )
Check breakerpoint settings

My 1974 250 2 stroke will not start. I have a new

With a bike that is 35 years old lots of things could be the problem. I will list what to look for in a "most likely" sequence but with a mind to some of the easy things to check first.
  • Got gas and is it turned on? Clean air filter?
  • Have a buddy kick the starter while you look for spark.
  • Assuming no spark, How good is your battery? Fuses good? Kill switch on or shorted to the bars or elsewhere?
  • carb, head, intake manifold and carb mounted tight?
  • Does the carb intake manifold have reeds? What condition are they in?
  • I don't recall for sure, does the bike have CDI? If so, have the dealer test it and the coil.
  • If no CDI, when was the last time the points and condenser were replaced or points filed and set? Get the coil checked.
  • Remove the flywheel cover. Take hold of the flywheel and, without turning the wheel, lift the flywheel up and down then left and right. Any movement or was the flywheel rock solid? If movement then the crank bearings need replaced along with the crank seals.
  • Speaking of crank seals, how old are your seals? The bike ain't gonna run with bad seals.
This is a pretty good list of things that should keep you busy for a few hours. Wish I were there to help. It's been a long time since I serviced an old Yamaha 250. I was a shop mechanic for ten years.

Let me know what you find out.
