SOURCE: How can I get old fuel out of the reserve tank on

Hi,
Just disconnect the main fuel hose from the carb rail. Ensure that you have switched the fuel **** to reserve and this will allow the reserve tank to empty. Not all the fuel is going to come out unless you blow air into the fuel tank filler, this will then get a large percentage of the fuel out. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

SOURCE: Dear P. I have YAMAHA VIRAGO

To see what is wrong you will have to drain the tank and take off the fuel tank outlet(filter assembly). What you should see is a tube sticking up with a fuel filter over it. The tube allows the fuel to enter the carburetor down to that level , when the fuel petcock is in the ON position. When you switch to RESERVE the rest of the fuel flows down through a hole at the base of the fuel petcock. If the tube is missing from the fuel tank outlet(filter assembly) or/and the actual fuel petcock switch (sometimes a separate part )you will not have RESERVE. Another way you have no RESERVE is if you have a leaking four hole washer in your fuel selector. This allows the fuel to flow from RESERVE to ON inside the selector valve(gas leaking in petcock but not escaping outside petcock). "Honda" has all sizes of 4 hole washers available, but , the assembly may not be designed to be taken apart and reassembled. In either case you may end up having to buy an assembly to fix your problem.

SOURCE: my honda v65 magna runs hot in stop and go traffic

V65s are notorious for running hot in stop and go traffic as it has a liquid coolant system and no cooling fins on the heads or cylinders. An easy fix is to wire in a switch to turn on your electric radiator cooling fan and switch the fan on and leave it on when you are riding in town.

How to Drain Reserve Petrol Tank

Hi there and welcome to fixya,

YOu'll need to remove the fuel valve underneath the tank. That's the surest way to drain the fuel inside. Another option is to drain it by switching the fuel selector to "res" or reserve so fuel will drain lower (the reserve part).

Hope this helps,

Where do i locate the air filter for 1984 Honda VF 1000 Thanks Terry

Most all motorcycles air filters are located underneath the fuel tank.
take off seat...turn fuel selector to off...disconnect hose from fuel filter, take off hold down bolts for tank then have some rags ready for a little fuel leakage and since your going to change or inspect air filter now would be a good time to change or spray clean your fuel filter. if the air filter is not under the tank, then just follow back from your carburetor manifolds tubes.
