Hi James:
I tried to track this down without success.
If it were me and I really needed to know I would fill a spare outboard tank and put it in the boat and then go and play until the boat coughed and ran out of fuel.
-I'd then connect the engine to the spare tank and continue to play or go home depending on how far away I was.
- Once at a fueling station, I'd fill the tank, and record the amount of fuel needed.
- It can also be a good idea to check the actual amount of fuel consumed (determined by how many gallons to fill the tank) against hours running at different speeds, and also the gas gauge indication when on the step and at idle.
- My personal rule????? never trust the gas gauge, and always start with a full tank.
First question is yes bad or worn plugs can burn more gas to generate the same amount of power. Second question, you could fill up the tank and record the mileage, then fill it up again when it measures half a tank and compare. If the gas gauge is working correctly it should take half the total number of gallons the tank holds to fill it up again. And the miles you drove divided by the number of gallons used equals your gas mileage.
When gas engines haven't been started in a while, the gas tends to gunk up. This is due to Ethanol being added to today's gas.
You will need to drain the carb bowl and clean it. Drain the fuel tank and refill the fuel tank with, fresh, Premium gas (no Ethanol additives) and add Sta-bil to the fuel tank - add the recommended amount to the fuel tank. Run a full tank through the system. When refilling the tank again, use SeaFoam additive. This can be obtained from Wal-Mart or your local parts house. Follow the directions on the can and add the recommended amount to your fuel tank. Start the engine and let it run for approximately 5 minutes and then shut it off. Your Snowblower will be easier to start the next time you use it. Always use Sta-bil if your engine is going to sit for any length of time.

MA typeoil (10-30W with no friction modifiers or it will make the clutch slip) an oil designed for bikes, in the sump and straight fuel in the tank
Double check the float needle seat. Often a piece of debris will lodge itself under the needle. Check your fuel tank/fuel valve for debris or damage to the strainer screen on the fuel valve.
you may wont to change your fuel filter and run some good carb. cleaner in your fuel tank, concentrated or / seafoam /i prefer but check with your local parts store .,let us know how the mechanic in the bottle works . Good Day.
