Without the frame number ( aka; VIN ), you are hosed. Get the VIN and then go to the site below. Engine numbers will not work.

The best I can suggest on a bike with fewer than the current 17 digit VIN codes is to call a few Suzuki dealers and see if they have an old code book. The current 17 digit codes started in 1983 if I recall correctly. Be sure you have the frame number. The engine number will not work for identification. You could also contact Suzuki Corporation USA.. Here is what the website says: 1) Should you have a situation that you believe requires American Suzuki's immediate assistance you may call Customer Service at 714-572-1490. Customer service representatives are available from 8:30AM to 5 PM PST.
or
2) Put your inquiry in a letter, including copies of all relevant documents (service records, etc.). Include the 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN), your full name, mailing address, and day/evening phone numbers.

The numbers I posted are what is stamped on the frame, not the engine. I do know where to look and what altered numbers appear like.
