Any dealer should be able to ID the model from the VIN #. However the motorcycle has an ID plate on the frame neck on the opposite side from the number stamped on the frame . On the corner of the ID plate in small print Is usually the "MODEL XV1100S_". Unfortunately , it is sometimes rubbed off by the wiring harness. A "C" on the end of a model number designates that the bike is a California model with different pollution control devices.

1986 XV1100S spitting out exaust

I assume you are talking about on deceleration. This generally indicates an air leak in the exhaust system, check and reseal your flange gaskets and check any other joint in the pipe.
If exhaust is aftermarket they sometimes crackle and splutter on decel if they are poorly designed. Hope this helps. :-)

I HAVE A OLD XV1100 THAT I WANT TO PROGRAM TO MY RDV2020 RADIO IS IT POSSIBLE.

Yes. First you will need to know what is programmed in your newer RDV2020, both the frequency and PL code. Using the instructions in the XTN series user guide you can reprogram your XV1100 to match your RDV2020. If you are uncertain how your RDV2020 is programmed, contact your local Motorola dealer or the vendor who you purchased the unit from.

Here is the link to the XTN series user guide. See programming instructions beginning on page 18.

Best regards.

Can u program an xv1100 to communicate wi th an xv2100

Yes. The difference between the two is wattage. XV1100 is one watt and XV2100 is two watts.

Here is a link to the user guide where you will find programming instructions beginning on page 18 http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/XTN_Series_User_Manual_E.pdf

The VHF frequency chart is on pg 25, and the code chart is on pages 27-28.

Best regards.

Will it work with a cb radio

No. CB's operate at the 27 MHz on 22 predetermined frequencies allowed for Citizen Band radios; and your Motorola XV1100 radio is a VHF 150-170 MHz radio with a set amount of built in frequencies to choose from, designed for business use.
