You will need 4 quarts of oil. The correct amount is between 3.5 and 4 quarts. Use only JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Do not use oil that is Energy Conserving it will shorten the life if your wet clutch and transmission gears(wrong additives). Synthetic oils will help your cycle run cooler and shift easier. Be sure to change your filter and purchase a spare drain bolt washer. A K&L filter wrench ($10) is also a useful tool if you plan to do your own oil changes.

I have a 2005 honda shadow areo the front feel excesivly spongy and I have no visable leeks. looking for a solution. one shop said they can change the oil in the forks and another does not feel this would...

Have you had the bike a while? When did you start noticing this problem? Changing the fork oil should help a bit. Just like engine oil, fork oil does break down over time and should be replaced. Also, there are springs in the fork tubes that might be worn out like any other spring does over time. You can either replace the fork oil and springs, or the fork oil and add a spacer.

Need to do a tune up on a 2006 750 shadow areo! What's involved?

There reall isn't much to do except change the engine oil and filter, replace the spark plugs, and check the air filter. Other important normal maintenance items are; check all fluid levels (brake fluid, clutch hydraulic fluid, coolant level, final drive oil level), and tire pressures. Your motorcycle requires very little in the way of tune-up maintenance.
