sounds like a fuel problem Mike. be sure fuel lines are in good shape. fuel filter not plugged air filter is clean. check to see if there is any dirt or water in the fuel bowl. may need to take the carburetor apart and clean real good.
Had that problem last year and it ended up being a loose ground on the engine side... try cleaning up your contacts on the battery and on the motor... every time the sifter cable moved on my engine it would bump the ground.
I would check the carb and clean the spark plug or get a new one. And a big problem with 2 strokes when they need rebuilt on the top end is when you give gas they bog.
