there are two drain holes in the recess and these get blocked up which prevents water from draining. as a result, water enters the fuel tank! you need to unblock the drain holes and clear the blockages. i recently did this by poking a thin wire down the hole. sometimes, the ******* at the bottom of the tank that the overflow pipes are attached to can corrode and become blocked as a result. again, these can be cleared with a pin / fine wire. hope this helps.
IT sounds like fuel starvation has it got a vacume petrol tap if so it could be that not letting petrol through sometimes or the vacume pipe is split or kinked or squashed
When removing such things or even changing exaust system, make sure carb jets are reset. Or if your bike is fuel injected to have it reprogramed.By changing exaust flow you change intake flow.
