SOURCE: replace rear brake pads

Remove right saddlebag, pull the two caliper mounting bolts and remove the caliper. Do not open bleeder or disconnect line. You will need to push a large screwdriver between the old pads before removing them in order to push the pucks back into the caliper or the new pads will not spread enough to reinstall. Then pull the two smaller bolts from the caliper and the pads will fall out. The pads are different for inside and outside, so pay attention, and remember, after reinstalling, before riding, be sure to pump brake pedal, and it may take a few stops before brakes stop as effectively as before.

Disconnect all of the electrical connections including the antenna wire from under the seat going to the tour pack and then remove the four nuts under the tour pack which holds it to the mount. At this point, simply lift it off.

2001 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUI Ultra Classic Electra Glide. Bike shuts off and wants to crank back over but won't.

Question edited for a lot more clarity.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks to model category.

'Cranks' means it turns over. I think you mean it cranks but doesn't start?

How do you check the crank position sensor?

The latest manual I have is from 2007 from a Softail. Not even sure you can use these, but I try to put them here in the post. c39366c0-5170-4d10-ab57-c55f39d66fea.png

Why is check engine light on when my 2001 electra glide std. is carburated?

Although your engine is carburated, it still has an ECM. The engine gets it's timing pulses from a crank position sensor on the left side of the engine. It also has a MAP sensor and several other sensors.

Good Luck

Bike won`t start.

Your Crank Position Sensor, or Cam Position Sensor is likely to be the problem. If there is no signal from crank position sensor, bike will not fire the coil. ECM has no referance to position of motor. Making timing imposible.
