Question about 2006 Honda VTX 1300 S
Just purchased a '06 VTX 1300 but the steering lock has problems. The key goes in and turns 90 deg. as if it has locked it but then I can't get the key out. Is there a special way to perform this function or is there a problem and how do I get it fixed? @
Hi, Eric_adams for this scenario you will need your service manual, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can't find the best tool you ever bought for your Honda, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

I have had this same problem on 4 of my Jeeps. A locksmith provided me with two answers.
This key thing happens to me at least once a week.
It is a common problem with Jeeps. 1998 Wrangler, 2007 Cherokee and two 2000 Cherokees all had the issue.
1. Replace the tumbler assembly. $150. USD (Not!)
2. Place the key in the ignition, smartly impact the key on the **** end, end that is sticking out of the ignition. (Harder is not better) strike straight on as to not break the key off. 4 or 5 strikes should fix the problem every time.
FYI - flooding the switch with WD-40 will not fix the issue, it is a tumbler problem.

SOURCE: jammed steering lock
Move the steering left and right while turning the key. If any pressure is on the lock pin then the pin can't slide freely. With pressure on the lock pin the key will feel like it will not turn to unlock.
Hope this helps. Please rate this solution. Thanks

With the key in the ignition, tap on the key with something heavy like a pair of pliers, screwdriver etc. It will cause the pin inside the mechanism to drop, and the iginition will turn. Happened to me today, worked like a charm.
