You have to reach into it with a long thin socket to unscrew the filter. If your only goal in removing the filter is to clean it, consider not even starting the process. The centrifugal filter rarely has more than a thin film of dirt inside it. It is very brittle and easily broken. Again, I have never seen enough residue in one to warrant taking it apart to clean it and it is easily damaged. Then you have to figure out how to get a replacement part and gaskets (no longer available from Honda). Change your oil regularly and do not attempt filter removal unless you want to take a chance of making the motor out of service.

Type and amount of oil for front fork

To change your oil you will need 4 quarts of oil, a filter, and a new aluminum drain plug washer. You can reuse the old one if it has not been squished out of shape. Your motorcycle comes from Honda usually with 10w-40 mineral base motorcycle oil.

What is the oil capacity

Capacity is between 1.3 and 1.8 liters. I know that is quite a gap, but it will depend on how much of the old oil you remove when performing an oil change on your Honda CB 250.

I can't find the oil filter on my 1970 honda cb450 motorcycle.

It does not have an oil filter like what you are thinking of. It has a centrifugal oil filter. On the right end of the crankshaft there is a conical rotor. It turns with the crank and dirt particles get thrown to the inside wall of the rotor. The dirt builds up there and is cleaned out with a screwdriver, knife, small scraper, whatever. You will think you are destroying some type of gasket but dirt is all it is. You may need to remove the right side case for full access. I can't remember for sure.Go to www.babbittsonline.com/parts/viewbybrand/parts.aspx for diagrams and parts as available. Please rate my answer.

How do you change a oil filter on a 1971 Honda CL 350 motorcycle?

You don't really "change" the filter. You just clean it. There is a screen filter on the bottom of the oil pump that serves to do a basic filter of the oil going into the oil pump. The real "filter is a centrifugal filter on the right end of the crankshaft. The spinning filter forces the heavy dirt particles to the inner rim of the filter where they build up to a somewhat solid mass. A screw driver pushed into the mass will break the dirt up and when most of the dirt mass is removed, a can of carb cleaner can finish the job. Only minor dis-assembly of the filter is needed to clean it. There is no need to actually remove the filter from the crankshaft.
