2001 suzuki 1400 i have let it warm up 10-15 min. put in to 1st gear -- it immediatley shuts down as if the clutch is not working.it worked fine just 10 days ago?

Many of the Suzuki's including Boulevard, Intruder and others have cut off switches in the kick stand. As long as the stand is down the engine will die when shifted into neutral.
Your description suggests the clutch should be your first port of investigation - as it works ok when cold it is unlikely an adjustment issue but there are wear patterns on clutch parts that can cause the problem.
Clutch plate tongues can become hooked and embedded into wear grooves in the clutch basket and semi-worn plates can suffer from being held together by suction.
bike is 15yrs-ajust clutch 1st-if no relief then a bottom end will have to be done and u need a clymer manual and special tools--the book covers complete maintenance
Change the fluid in the clutch reservoir,bleed out the remaining fluid.(keep it full as you go) Should be dot 4 fluid not dot 3. U may need to rebuild the master cylinder or replace it.
I wonder if maybe the kickstand switch is bad letting the bike think the kickstand is down. When you let out the clutch it shuts of the engine as if the kickstand is actually down.
