Cygnus x engine cuts out. as you come to a stop at traffic lights for example the engine idle speed slows down and eventually cuts out. The bike starts up again straight away but needs throttle to keep the engine running.

Check for any splits on the rubber intake sleeve.this is what connects the carb to the bike.If this does not rectify the fault then strip down and clean the carb jets especially the idle jet as it may be slightly blocked causeing such symptoms.good luck

Car stalls when moving from neutral to drive or reverse

Hi Angela

Increase the idle speed slightly.
If there is no manual idle speed adjustment screw, then it electronically controlled by an idle valve which could be faulty or may be needs to be cleaned only.
All the best

What can cause a Fast idle on 1999 Ford Escort?

Try cleaning the throttle body and check the gap on all the spark plugs also all electrical sensor plugs and battery terminals this could be related to engine temperature also if to hot rpms stay up longer to cool off but maybe your idle air control valve is bad when did it start?

Check/clean the MAP sensor and throttle position sensor. This should fix the issue. Its a common problem with Chrysler products.

Bike stalls when slowing down at stops and turns starts right up.

Well you didn't say what year or model bike it is or whether it's fuel injected or equipped with a carb. If it's equipped with a carb, you may just need to set the engine idle speed a bit higher. If this is the case, the throttle stop screw that sets the engine speed in at the top right of the carb. You may have to take the air filter cover off. Clockwise rotation of the screw increases the idle speed. Set the idle speed at about 1000 RPM with the engine at full operating tempature.

Good Luck

Backfiring engine on slowdown from medium speed.

Two things cause this problem, ONE: Your timing could be out a little and the bike needs a good tune, or TWO: your exhaust is cactus.

I have a 2001 Mercedes C240. When the engine is running with car stopped you can feel a bit of trembling. It also cuts off during driving and at slow speeds only. Like when I will the foot off the pedal...

The first thing you do is have the engine control module scanned for fault codes. I also suggest you buy a can of spray throttle valve cleaner and clean the throttle valve and the idle speed control valve.

2009 Street glide idles poorly, strong gas smell, stalls

The 09 models come with a "parade" mode which causes the rear cyclinder to quit firing when idling in traffic etc to combat over heating. You should be able to kick it on by rolling the throttle grip FORWARD for 5 to 10 seconds. Have you changed the pipes or air filter? If you have and never had the EFI adjusted (either factory download or fuel tuner installed) your bike could be running extra rich causing the over heating and eventual engine destruction. New Harleys run rich from the factory, any changes to the intake/exhaust system without proper fuel injection management will cause overheating. Try getting your bike into parade mode by rolling the throttle forward to the stops for a few seconds, that will cool things down.

Car cutting out when idleing

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
