IF THE FUSES INSIDE THE CAR & UNDER THE HOOD HAVE ALL BEEN CHECKED WITH A GOOD FUSE TESTER, & THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED, THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH IS NEXT. THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO THROUGH THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH SO THEY CAN BE USED AS TURN OR BRAKE LIGHTS. I'M ASSUMING THE BULBS ARE OK. REMOVE THE PLASTIC FROM AROUND THE TURN SIG. SWITCH. STAY AWAY FROM ANY WIRES THAT ARE IN THE YELLOW SLEEVE. THEY ARE AIR BAG WIRES. WITH BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THERE SHOULD BE POWER IN THE WHITE WIRE. IF THERE IS NO POWER IN THE WHITE WIRE, YOU MAY HAVE TO PUT A BYPASS WIRE FROM THE WHITE WIRE COMING OUT OF THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH TO THE WHITE WIRE GOING INTO THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. IF THAT DOESN'T MAKE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK, THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH MUST BE BAD.

98 chevy lumina Rear window break light works, but rear break lights don't, also right turn don't work?

I can almost 100% guaranty the turn signal switch is the problem. Power for the brake lights starts at the brake switch. power then splits from there and the third brake light gets power directly from the brake switch. Since the turn signal and the brake lights are on the same bulb power for the brake lights is routed through the turn signal switch. the switch depending on what position it is in will allow brake power or turn signal power to there respective left or right brake/turn bulbs.

If you hold your foot on the brake pedal and wiggle the turn signal and or play with the hazard switch the brake lights will almost always intermittently start to work. this will confirm a bad turn signal switch which is pretty common on GM vehicle with this style setup.

Peugeot 308 SW (2008) LH & RH brake lights not working

Was told by a colleague at work following me in that my brake lights were not working. Both side brake lights didn't work but the high level brake light strip at top of rear hatch did. I checked the bulbs but made the mistake in thinking the top most bulbs were the rear lights then next ones down were the rear & brake - as both locations are same dual element bulbs. Based on some forums I thought it might be the brake switch. My mistake...hence this post. The brake & rear light bulbs are the top most bulbs in the clusters, the next bulbs down are the additional rear light only (as the brake element is unused as there is no contact strip in the cluster).

If the LH & RH brake lights don't work but the high level lights do - then it will be the cruel coincidence that both bulbs gone, and unlikely to be the brake switch (which is a dual switch with press to break press to break contacts).

The clue is if all the brake lights don't work, as in the LH & RH and the top strip high level lights then it is most likely the brake switch (which is located in the passenger side below the glove box behind a piece of trim that can be removed by taking out 3 studs. The switch has a green end and the rod of the switch is pushed by a rotating shaft connected to the brake pedal {plenty of info on youtube about this}. The brake switch is available from euro carparts at about £10.

Oh - the LH & RH light clusters locate in to the car's bodywork with 2 pins, and are held in with T30 (torx 30) bolts.

97 Olds Bravada My brake & hazard lights don't

There are TSB's for this issue. I chased this issue for months on mine. Go find the TSB's, there's troubleshooting pointing out the faulty part. It could be, the brake light switch, the hazzard light switch itself, the multi-function switch. I had replaced all of these and still had the problem. Wiring that goes from the brake switch to up near the fender was shorting against the fender. I replaced the pigtail, problem fixed. Best bet to help you, is find the TSB's for this problem.

I have a 2000 chevy 2500 and the tail lights, tag lights and brake lights have stopped working, I checked the bulbs and they are good, fuses are good. Have not replaced the brake relay under the hood. Do I...

check for power at the wires going intop the tail lights, real common that the circuit board is bad, but unlikely both at the same time. The tag, tail lights and brakes are 2 different systems. Do the turn signals work normally? if so the wiring from the turn signal switch to the brake lights is GOOD. the stop light switch had\s a ORANGE wire that should have 12V if not ck STOP LPS fuse, when brake pedal is depressed, the WHITE wire is 12V (at the stop light switch) if that is OK, the turn signal switch COULD be bad. The wiring harness plug is near the back left under the tailgate, see if that is disconnected?

Brake lights don t work turn works lights work brake light does not eover window works

First check the 25 amp fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. If that fuse is OK, contine troubleshooting below.

If the center brake light is working, check the 15 amp brake fuse in the cabin. If the center brake light is not working, the problem is probably the brake switch above the pedal. Take the connector off the pedal and use a big paper clip to connect the 2 terminals in the connector. If this turns the lights on, replace the switch. Let me know if you have questions.

My friend; Try this; 1. Check the fuses & relay boxes at cabin & engine compartment for any burn fuses / relay replace if any. 2. Check for any broken / chafing wires; repair if any. Check for any dis-connected plug & or wires; re-connect if any. You may need to replace some brake pads & or shows. You may need to bleed the whole brake system. Then do these procedures to erase & rest it; Dis- connects the negative battery's cable; While the ignition switch in the ON position ?Don?t run the engine" So, for 10 - 15 minutes only. Reconnect the negative cable. Try it, & let me know if I add any benefits to you. I hope I add some thing valuable to you. Regards; MAR; [email protected]

Brake lighs stop working

Does the 3rd brake lamp illuminate? If so then your problem is multifunction switch. If it doesn't do the following checks.
Check for power to and thru the brake lamp switch itself. If you do not have power to the switch check fuse no. 10(20 amp) in the interior fuse panel. If you have power to the switch then depress brake pedal and make sure you have power thru the switch. If this is ok the check Fuse 22(20amp) with brake applied..
