I flooded my big red 300 1996 yesterday going through a river to fast,I keeped on the electric start untill it stop turning over the motor, I then waited for a wile and kick started it and it went fine. The elec start now wont go, Ive put an new battery in and the fueses are all good, Would it be the starter motor ?

Do you mean, flooded in water as in a big puddle or river?
Or flooded as in fuel overload to the engine?

probably broke the connecting rod. Common for machinery that sets for long periods without turning. Lack of lubricant since it is a splash type system

the pump motor has a short in it, most likely to be in a field coil it may be repaired but its likely to be far cheeper to replace the motor and there should be a way to turn it off,,,the brakers will trip every time the motor starts to humm becouse the motor is pulling far to many amps for that trip so to save a "fire!" it trips out,,,,do yourself a big faver and have it looked at fast

You have to do an electric follow until you find the problem. If you haven't got one, get a multi-meter this will tell you whether power is getting to a certain section or not. I use mine set at 20, that is three clicks left. This will give you a clear voltage reading.

It sounds like the motor was damaged in the flood. You may be able to salvage it by spraying both ends of the motor shaft with penetrating oil several times moving it in between, but you may not be able to salvage it.

Do you have a Wankel engine in you car?
Then you have a flooded engine.
Pull the fuel pump fuse or relay and crank the engine over......until it starts then stops.
Now put relay or fuse back and start.
You cannot start and stop a Wankel in a Mazda RX when it is in it's cold mode and restart it easily.
Always run them for at least 10 min before shutting it off.
The other way to start after flooding.....is wait a day.

Sounds like the motor is cutting out on its thermal fuse. The only cure is to change the motor.

The coolant temp sensor sends signal to the ECU and the ECU adjusts the idle RPM. When the coolant is cold, the engine requires more fuel to sustain idle with thick oil (oil gets thicker & more viscous when cold). This makes the engine to idle at faster RPM but it should settle down to 850 RPM or so after the coolant warms up. The sensor is nothing but a thermistor; a device that changes electrical resistance according to the coolant temperature.

Try this sequence. Pump up the fuel bulb until it gets hard. There should be something equvilent to a fast idle setting, then hold in the primer(electric choke) and finally turn the key and crank. When it tries to start go easy on the electric choke. You may want to see if the electric choke moves freely.
