You can kick start it but your electric starter won't kick it in ?
Have you check your main fuse to the starter, starter relay and all realted wirings?
You have fried the starter motor my friend when you keep trying to turn it over until the motor stops.
Well, from what you've described, you started motor have gone to brink, better get a new starter.
Cheers

I have a Big Red Tiller started it up yesterday and it run fine for 5 minutes and heard a loud noise and it quit and will not start and has NO compression

probably broke the connecting rod. Common for machinery that sets for long periods without turning. Lack of lubricant since it is a splash type system

Turning off

the pump motor has a short in it, most likely to be in a field coil it may be repaired but its likely to be far cheeper to replace the motor and there should be a way to turn it off,,,the brakers will trip every time the motor starts to humm becouse the motor is pulling far to many amps for that trip so to save a "fire!" it trips out,,,,do yourself a big faver and have it looked at fast

I fitted a new battery to my River 500 yesterday and turned on the ignition to find all the electrics are dead. I have checked all the fuses and the bike was ok a month ago when last used. I have not...

You have to do an electric follow until you find the problem. If you haven't got one, get a multi-meter this will tell you whether power is getting to a certain section or not. I use mine set at 20, that is three clicks left. This will give you a clear voltage reading.

My Roper dryer worked fine until my basement flooded about 6 inches of water on floor. Now my dryer just hums when I try to start the dryer. The heat does come on. When I spin the drum and hold in the door...

It sounds like the motor was damaged in the flood. You may be able to salvage it by spraying both ends of the motor shaft with penetrating oil several times moving it in between, but you may not be able to salvage it.

You cranked the car and moved around driveway to allow another car to get out. Shut it off. Now it sounds like the engine is turning over, but no fire, just spinning..

Do you have a Wankel engine in you car?
Then you have a flooded engine.
Pull the fuel pump fuse or relay and crank the engine over......until it starts then stops.
Now put relay or fuse back and start.
You cannot start and stop a Wankel in a Mazda RX when it is in it's cold mode and restart it easily.
Always run them for at least 10 min before shutting it off.
The other way to start after flooding.....is wait a day.

1987 volvo 244 intermittent fast idle floods after shut down

The coolant temp sensor sends signal to the ECU and the ECU adjusts the idle RPM. When the coolant is cold, the engine requires more fuel to sustain idle with thick oil (oil gets thicker & more viscous when cold). This makes the engine to idle at faster RPM but it should settle down to 850 RPM or so after the coolant warms up. The sensor is nothing but a thermistor; a device that changes electrical resistance according to the coolant temperature.

Wont start

Try this sequence. Pump up the fuel bulb until it gets hard. There should be something equvilent to a fast idle setting, then hold in the primer(electric choke) and finally turn the key and crank. When it tries to start go easy on the electric choke. You may want to see if the electric choke moves freely.
