When you have no dipstick tube you can incorrectly check youroil level. ... How you check your oil level ...Missing: inches ltr
A low oil level will cause the gauge not to work or read "low" because the sensor is designed to read pressure of the oil as it travels through the engine. Are you getting a message displayed as well ? I would start by making sure the oil is clean and at the proper level on the dipstick. If the oil level is low make sure you first fill it to the proper level then look for a leak. If the oil level is okay then it is possible the oil pressure sender could be bad. Good luck ?
If oil level in engine is at proper level, I wouild suspect oil pressure sending unit, does vehicle have an oil psi gauge on dash,,,if so what does it read. if oil psi reads well then it may be an oil level sensor. if you have access to a manual oil pressure gauge, you can remove the oil psi sensor and install manual gauge to get a true reading of what oil pressure is while running. if manual gauges shows low psi, then you may be looking at an oil pump.
you do not want the engine running when adding oil, you can not read the level, and it will throw it out the dip stick. you do want the engine running when you add ****** oil, so you can read the proper level on the stick as you add. It gives you the direct level.
I'm assuming you have a low oil pressure indicator on the dash. Have you checked the oil level? If it is at correct level, it is possible the oil pressure sender/switch isn't reading the pressure properly. Also it is possible that bearings in the engine are worn out, or that the oil pump isn't working properly. If you don't have a pressure gauge to screw into the engine where the switch is, I would start by replacing the oil pressure switch.
this is a bit of a loaded question while draining the oil and replacing the filter (up front, top right of engine) it requires 8.5 quarts Mobile 1 0-20 oil, to get a read on the level there is no dip stick, you have to after putting in 6 quarts, start your car, then turn it off, put your key in the accessory position scroll through your screen on the dash to find oil level, it will tell you to wait for about 15 minutes until obtains the proper level reading then it will tell you how much more oil to add. and it will take another 15 to get verification of the proper level obtained.
These cars are funky and this is normal...gauges on all of the earlier cars are for general reference...checking the oil level manually while the car is running and warmed up is the most proper way to do this...generally speaking, your pressure should drop as the car warms up, but still reach 5 bar on full accelleration (928's have the same gauge). The oil level gauge will actually increase as the car warms up...the difference can be dramatic.
What engine is in your A4. Normaly if the oil is in between the hash marks on the dip stick thats good, If above or below hash marks this is bad. To properly check oil level start vehicle up let it run for 30 sec. Shut vehicle off and let it sit for aprrox 2min then check the level.
I only want return busness due to correct answers.....don't beleive in job security. We check transmission oil at normal operating temp because oil expands when it is hot, and too much oil will blow seals, also when hydraulics are in use they show the correct level, so it has to be in motion, (turning). Let me know when you get the level right. Yes if you do not do it the way you are right now, you would have to undo bolts to get it out.
