As you mentioned, clutch replaced and all plates are in order.Still it needs to be checked,to confirm:--- First of all check,Does the clutch lever release "sharply" and snap back after engagement? then lean bike over drain about a quart of oil, take off access cover to clutch and check to see if you have any broken clutch springs or loose spring. If thats looks o.k. you"ll probably need to remove clutch plates and readjust. To confirm this give a real quick check when you ride the bike smell the oil, does it smell burnt? if it does, the plates are probably no good or out of its alignment. -------------- Also try re adjusting the clutch. To do this loosen the clutch adjusting jam nut and turn the adj screw clockwise until the bike bearly starts to creep forward, then back off the screw 1/4 turn, tighten jam nut and then check. Also check for any clutch oil/fluid leak.If noticed then it can be the problem.---------- Motorcycle engines do not do well using synthetic oil, or oils with "special" additives or "friction reducers". Drain whatever is in the gearbox and refill with 10w40 motor oil. ive got a 1992 suzuki vs800 and i put a new clutch - helpmech_17.gif
------------ This troubleshooting should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My clutch seems to slip in higher gears on my suzuki intruder but takes off from dead starts just fine. what does it sound like the problem is?

Sounds like you either need to adjust the clutch cable - there should be a little bit of play in it before it disengages the clutch - or you need a new clutch kit (plates, springs, etc). What mileage is on the bike and has the clutch ever been changed?

Clutch slipping 1999 Vulcan Classic 1500

Yes, he should have... The problem IS not enough "slack", "clearance", "free play" in the clutch itself once it gets warmed up.. make DOUBLE sure you have the correct fluid in the hydraulic system (if its wrong - it will overheat and expand and cause this very issue!!)..

THINK about whats happening.... when it gets warm, the "slack", "freeplay", and other "clearance" in the entire clutch system is being eliminated due to thermal expansion.. and then the slipping starts... Have the mechanic make DOUBLE SURE he has the metal plates and fiber plates stacked in the correct order and the correct amount of each... and NONE are warped!
good luck!

Just tightend my front sprocket ive put the cover back on now my cluth is slipping! but its a new clutch?

If it has a Clutch cable check the adjustment. It always need adjusting after putting in new clutch. If it has hydraulic clutch check and bleed the clutch fluid. If there is air in the lines this can cause a problem. Make sure you purchase a Service Manual it is a mechanics best friend.

Clutch replacement on 98 suzuki 1200 bandit

all you do is drain the oil before removing the right hand engine casing the bigger one of the two then undo all the little bolts holding the small springs in place then rmove the face plate and take out the clutch plates and replace with new ones remember to put the new ones in the same order the old ones came out there should always be a friction plate between clutch plates once done put casing back and refill with new oil
hope this helps

Clutch is sliping on third gear and the lever is engaging almost at the end i i replace the push rod and the bolt in the middle of relese arm i loose out a little and is a little better there is any other...

Make sure you aren't using an incompatable oil, wet bath clutches need engine oil to be compatable. Most synthetics will cause slip in taller gears due to added load. Lower gears usually won't slip but 3rd and up will.

84 honda shadow vt700 clutch slips when hot

Your clutch plates have lasted 25 years. It is probably time to get some new plates. Have your dealer get you a set of Barnett clutch plates.
