Greetings,
Changing the spark plug is a real treat. First, buy a good Iradium plug, you will be thankful as they are far superior to stock ones. Second, remove the seat, Third, remove the gas tank, [fuel line also with the full turned off, then remove the speedometer cable at the top of the crankcase cover on the right side, tape off the end of the cable cause you don't want to loose the end of the cable, then while lifting the gas tank off unplug the wires underneath the tank]. Fourth, remove the top engine chrome cover on the left top of the engine, au-ha there it is - the spark plug.
Now if you would like to eliminate steps 2,3,4 in the future just leave the rear bolt out of the chrome cover and tighten the front bolt when reinstalling the cover and you will be able to just slip a tool up there and loosen the bold and swing the cover out of the way and get right to the spark plug, I did this and my cover stays in place and does not move from place until I loosen the bolt.
When reassembling it all be sure to align the tab on the speedometer cable to the slot in the mounting area on the crankase.
This is not as bad a job as it sounds, just takes many steps.
Take you time and enjoy the results afterwards.
Good luck, Les
The spark plugs in the v6 can become an involved job as the upper intake manifold. The LS uses a Coil on Plug (COP) ignition system, meaning that the spark plugs are located under the ignition coil
