I have a 1997 Suzuki Marauder vz800 and I took it for a ride in 38 degree weather and about 3 miles it stalled on me, when I went to start it back up I could not touch the gas or it would stall again and sometimes when I touched the gas it would bog down so I put the choke on and got it moving and immediately turned the choke back off but then when I would downshift to corner or stop it would lose power again and backfire, any suggestions

Please check your exhaust pipe or the silencer. It must have been chocked with carbon and you have to remove the carbon deposit to run your motorcycle.
Also clean your fuel tank as it could have dust deposits at the bottom chocking the fuel flow once it is in running condition.
Please change the spark plug as recommended after covering a distance specified.
