Hi.

This bike was released in 1977. The documentation for this bike originally was not released in pdf format. The manual is available only from pay-for websites, and not for free download. Here the manual at $6.99: http://www.repairthatmotorcycle.com/manual/suzuki/gs-550.html

Regards.

Ginko.

I have a Clymer manual for the GS550 fours * 1972-1984. If you need a diagram for the electrical of the 1981 GS550, I can scan the page(s) and email it to you. It is in full color also. Year 1981 has two model diagrams listed - GS550LX and GS550TX. Let me know if I can help or if you have already solved your problem.

Look for a coil for 1981 suzi GS550L

You can narrow the search by looking for any twin lead 12 volt points ignition coil, as long as you dont get a cdi, or electronic ignition coil, any point coil will do the job

Suzuki gs550l flot height

not sure on the exact specs but flip the carb upside down and look how the floats look to the horizon of the earth. Sounds silly but that is how pretty much all bike mechanics set them, just make them level to the earth. Good luck

Need wiring harness diagram

Go to this site and you can download a free PDF service manual.
www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp They have a single manual for a GS750. It is for a 1976. That is close enough to your '78 to still be very useable.
