I drained out all of the oil and transmission fluid,and now don't know what kind,and of how much to replace it with.

1. Be sure to run your car (in 4WD) for about 5-10 minutes or so to warm the oil up and be sure to park on a level ground.First we need to gather our materials. This is what I used for my oil change:Initial expenses

• Oil Catcher - $10 at Pep Boys
• Fluid Pump - $5 at Pep Boys
• 24mm wrench or ratchet (assumed ownership)
• 12mm? and 14mm? sockets to remove skidplate

Transfer Case Change Expenses

• 3 Qt 75W90 Gear Oil - $21
• (I used Redline from myoilshop.com)

2. Locate the Transfer Case.
Remove the Fill Hole plug first, then place your oil catcher in position, and remove the drain hole plug.
While the oil drains, clean off the drain plug.

3. When finished draining, replace the drain plug, and proceed to pump the fluid into the fill hole.
I filled until the fluid overran, but you can check the fluid by sticking a pinky into the hold and checking the level.
Replace the fill hole plug, and done.

Mitsubishi would love for you to use their oil, lololol. In reality, the proper oil is the oil rating needed. I usually use a good name brand oil and be sure it is that SPIII ATF I guess. I use Hypoid GL4 manual transmission oil which also can go into the rearend too if needed. If replacing the trany oil, be sure to dump the old oil and clean the magnet located on the drain bolt when you dump it. By the way, I use the oil I mentioned in an 86 Mitsubishi mighty max 5 speed. I use the 80-90wt. Might need to warm it up before pumping it into the tranny. Don't over or under fill the trany too.

it should be in the owners manual for the mower. I would say its gonna be a heavy gear oil. A local true-value or anywhere that works on lawn mowers should know about what kind

transmission filter in the bottom of transmission bolted to valve body.you need a large drain pan.place drain plug under transmission oil pan.remove transmission oil pan drain plug.let all transmission fluid drain out then screw back drain plug in oil pan.then you need to remove transmission oil pan then remove filter and replace pan gasket also.make sure you have right amount transmission fluid on hand.buy extra because if you short of fluid you cant drive car if fluid level too low.make sure you get the right amount fluid.torque pan bolts to 96 inch pounds.

To change the filter it is located on the bottom of the transmission under the transmission pan. It looks kind of like the oil pan but of course on the transmission. Once you remove the pan, you will have to unbolt the transmission filter, from there you can replace. Make sure to drain the fluid first or you are going to make a huge mess. If your transmission dues not have a drain plug, then remove the fill bolt, and evacuated the fluid that way.

If you are asking about the automatic ... the drain plug is on the passenger side and can be reached without lifting the car. It seems like they put some sort of "loctite" type product on the threads as the plug was difficult to remove. You can't change all of the oil ... about 3 quarts can be replaced ... see the owner's manual for exact amount. You could do the drain & refill a couple of times if you want to do a more thorough oil replacement. You might start by not putting all of the oil back in and check the level as you don't want to overfill. One of the *long* neck funnels is useful for adding the new oil thru the dipstick opening. There is no filter that you can replace. Honda only recommends their autotrans fluid however I used the Redline synthetic ATF that meets their specifications.

Manual transmissions have a fill plug and a drain plug on the side of the transmission. The fill plug is a little above the drain plug. Pull the fill plug and fill the transmission until the transmission fluid just barely seeps out and re-plug the transmission. That is the proper way to fill it. You will need a long stem funnel to give you the room you need to fill it. Your transmission requires a 10W30 weight motor oil, just like your engine. If you have a little time and 3 or 4 quarts of oil laying around you can pull the fill plug first and THEN the drain plug and let all the oil drain out. Then plug the transmission and re-fill it with fresh oil and this is a transmission flush for your transmission. You just saved $70 shop charge doing this. I say pull the fill plug first and THEN the drain plug because the last thing you want to do is pull the drain plug first and then find out the fill plug has welded itself and won't come out and now you can't fill the transmission. Fill plug first always.

YOU NEED JACK TO RAISE VECHICLE SUPPORT VECHICLE ON JACK STANDS.YOU NEED A DRAIN PAN. ONCE YOU GET VECHICLE OFF GROUND.PLACE DRAIN PAN UNDER TRANSMISSION OIL PAN REMOVE OIL PAN DRAIN BOLT.LET FLUID DRAIN OUT IN DRAIN PAN THEN SCREW DRAIN PLUG BACK IN PLACE DONT OVER TIGHTEN.REMOVE OIL PAN AND GASKET. BESURE TO HAVE PAPER TOWEL ON HAND.MAKE SURE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN GASKET SURFACE CLEAN BEFORE INSTALLING NEW PAN GASKET. ONCE TRANSMISSION OIL PAN REMOVED. REMOVE THE OLD TRANSMISSION FILTER INSTALL THE NEW FILTER.THEN WITH NEW GASKET ON OIL PAN IN PLACE.OIL PAN NEED TO BE CLEAN SO THE GASKET ADHESIVE WILL HOLD PAN GASKET IN PLACE WHILE INSTALLING PAN AND GASKET TO TRANSMISSION.INSTALL OIL PAN BOLTS INSTALL THEM CRISS CROSS TORQUE PAN BOLTS TO 7 TO 10 FT LBS. LOOK IN OWNERS MANUAL FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID CAPACITY.BUY 10 QUARTS .TO BE ON SAFE SIDE SO YOU WILL HAVE ENOUGH FLUID ON HAND. IF YOU DONT HAVE NO TRANSMISSION FLUID CAPACITY. ADD 7.5 QUARTS FLUID.WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL ON DIP STICK. SHOULD BE ON THE FULL MARK.CRANK VECHICLE UP.LET IDLE FEW MINUTES CHECK TRANSMISSION DIP FLUID LEVEL IF DROPPED ADD LITTLE MORE.WHILE ENGINE IDLING GETTING WARM UP. KEEP EYE ON FLUID LEVEL.WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING. APPLY BRAKES HOLD FOOT ON BRAKES SHIFT THROUGH ALL GEARS TWO TIMES. THEN CHECK FLUID LEVEL SHOULD BE ON FULL MARK.CHECK FOR LEAKS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING.

If you have your owners manual, it should tell you in there what kind of oil to use and how much it takes to fill the transmission.

The motor doesn't have to come out but a proper transmission drain and refill requires the VagCom diagnostic software to monitor transmission temperatures (it's supposed to be done with the fluid at a particular temperature). You'll have to flatbed the car there though - you don't want to drive the car with the transmission improperly filled. Of course, you can drain all the oil out and replace it yourself - no worries there - but don't drive the car without the transmission being filled properly.
