The first problem happens in 3 cases:
1 - when the gears aren't properly shifted - there are multiple ones engaged (or better said, partially engaged) so the transmission is locked and it stalls the engine. Simple test to see if it's this problem: without starting the engine shift in first and try to push the bike - if you encounter an excessive resistance you will know that the shifter mechanism needs adjusting.
2 - if the idle is too weak or the mixture too lean the smallest additional effort is enough to kill the engine - you will have to check the carburetors and the air filter
3 - the kill switch (the one that prevents the starting of the engine in any other position than neutral) is faulty - replace it
The second problem is caused by a faulty electrical contact - start searching for it from the kill switch and then the contact key switch.
Yes, the shifter is hard to adjust - the gearbox must be partially disassembled for that. The transmission must be test with the clutch pulled - no need to put the engine to rotate, that would nullify the test. The kill switch is at the bottom of the case, right next to the stand kill switch which you should also check since they are in a series. BTW that switch is mandatory in my country but it's not in Japan so on imported models we must add them ourselves , at the dealer shop. That might also be your case, the reason why you're not finding it.
Since it dies completely it must be a power issue - look at the connector to the ignition box, at the fuse box and (most likely) the key contact

on the first solution, is that without using the clutch? or should i push it aganst the engaged transmission
i have the first problem solved, but it still dies while i ride it, with no warning, yet it starts right back up, has to be electrical with a connection or switch, any ideas on that
