2008 Triumph Triumph Bonneville Logo

Hi, I have had my 2009 Bonneville T100 for 2 weeks now (bought 2nd hand with 2800km on clock). A couple of days ago, when I turned on the ignition, a high pitched 'scream' came from the somewhere in the engine (I'm not mechanically inclined in any way). It lasts for only 1-2 seconds and only occurs when started from cold. Note, this is not the normal 'whirr' you get when the ignition is turned on. The bike starts and runs perfectly. Should I be concerned with this new noise??

Hi,
It sounds like the fuel pump priming cycle which is normal.

Does it sound like this:

Thanks but no. The 'scream' occurs right at the begining of the normal priming cycle (and finishes before the end of the cycle). cheers.

OK, then it might be the fuel pressure regulator. You should have it checked!

I have the exact same issue with my 2012 T100. Did you ever find what the issue was?

2009 vulcan 1700 won't start. ran a week ago. has half tank of gas.

It turns over, with no start. It will either be fuel or ignition.
I understand from your description this machine has been sitting for some time. If the fuel is over a year old, drain it and flush the tank and carburetor. There is a lot of residue that occurs from evaporated fuel, mostly varnish.
Check the ignition by pulling a spark plug wire and visually verify the spark to the frame.
Remove and clean and set the spark plugs and re-torque.

You have to retreive the trouble code stored in the computer and then you will know which area you are having a problem in whether it be fuel, ignition, emission ect.
