There is only 1 vin on the bike, if your planning on registering it your gonna need it. The only other way would be to locate the frame number and have a kawi dealer cross reference for a vin, but being 6 years old, might not be able to. cant the owner just get it off his registration for you ? aslo, becarefull of receiving stolen property, sounds like an issue to me.
