If you are running 5th gear mid throttle the compression in the motor wasnt enough to push the piston back down

Motor starts n runs fine but will not go in to gear???

Could be a broken shift cable. Do you feel it click when shifting threw gears? Could be a bad transmission.

TRANSMISSION

Fuse # 20 or 21 gets power through ignition. This fuse controls PRNDL indicator, speedometer, tach, & will cause transmission to not shift gears correctly. Ours took off in 3rd gear when put in Overdrive & only ran in 3rd gear. If we tried to manually shift thru gears (auto trans), it had 1st, 3rd, reverse. No 2nd or over drive. Replaced ignition. Fixed problem. Root problem was Electric motor that engaged 4 wheel low side was bad. Every time we used 4 Low side it threw power surge through ignition & blew ignition out. Good Luck.

2008 rmz 250 4 stroke i was riding it and all of a sudden it cut off and now the kick start wont move but shift through gears just fine i think the top end is locked up i'm not sure could the piston of...

Remove the spark plug, put the bike in fourth or fifth gear then try a jump start but with the key turned off. If the rear wheel locks up when you jump on and release the clutch then the piston has probably seized up OR the kick start-to-clutch hub gearing is messed up. The best thing to do is to remove the left engine side cover and look at the kick start mechanism. You may need to remove the clutch assembly for a full inspection. With the clutch removed the rotor ( crankshaft flywheel ) should turn. If it will not turn then a seized piston, broken cam chain or dropped valve is likely. If the rotor does turn then the kick start mechanism is the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks!

I got a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville drove it to store ran fine come home shut it off and now it wont kick in gear can you tell me what might be the problem

it ran fine? the transmission or the shifting worked fine? the engine or the transmission ran fine? - both? which it is?
Sounds like the problem may be the linkage to the transmission -- IF that is, the real problem is that you cannot shift the transmission?

My key will not turn the switch in my 2003 Chevy Malibu. Gear shift is locked, but steering wheel is unlocked. Ran and cranked fine yesterday. Could this be a blown fuse?

sometimes when people have to many things on a keychain it can cause wear in the tumblers in the ignition so always have just your car key and remote only on your keyring, but try to mess with the shifter at the same time turn the key ive seen this happen alot.

94 Sonoma 4x4 won;t lock into 4WD.

yea its not shifting again like before ? sounds like your transfer case solonoid has possably gone bad again .. these are a sometimes dont work item .. It is what shifts the transfer case into gear and it might be a little worn or weathered and not letting the switch kick it in gear all the way from the N position. thanks Jerry holler if you need more.

Ok i had a oil leak and couldnt fine the leak only did it when motor ran i got that problem fixed now sence i got it all back together i took it for a spin today and the tranny is messing up it wont shift...

i am not a transmission expert but i would ck the kickdown cable on throttlebody. if disconnected or out of adjustment, it can do internal trans damage. seen it happen on several lincoln town cars around that year. if you suspect something wrong there, call a local tranny shop for quick advice, i'm sure he will know what youre talking about

Wont shift

check to make sure you did not knock off any vacuum lines and also make sure the transmission fluid is not low and if it smells cooked replace the fluid and the filter because the screen in the filter could be plugged and it is not getting fluid to the torque converter but check the fluid first
