He is right. You have a mute knob but it will not completly turn the volume off. Just the way they are designed.

The mute isn't supposed to turn off the radio just decrease the volume. you should have a knob on your radio to adjust how low the mute takes the volumebut like i said it won't completely "mute the radio".

1996 Goldwing. Low volume on radio, like its stuck on mute. Memory on clock goes off when it's shut off for awhile. Somebody mentioned a fuse on left side of bike, but not able to find it. 1996 Gpldwing

Take a test light and hook it up to the battery negative ($10) and check for power on both sides of the fuses with everything turned on. If a fuse has power on one side and not the other it is blown.

Bikes tend to have in-line fuses as well, and sometimes radio's have fuses plugged nto the back of them.

Cant hear my radio

The radio system on the Goldwing is equipped with a "Mute" button. More often than not, the issues are from this button not releasing completely on the inside of the switch. I suggest playing with the mute switch. Work it "on" and "off" over and over.

96 goldwing radio no volume

Had the same problem, there is a fuse on the left side, way down under all that stuff, it is just a line fuse to the radio, it has blown, it is not in the book, and it hides real good. Drove us nuts looking for it. And when we were ready to buy a new radio, we found the fuse. Took 8 hours to totally dismantle bike to find it. Will take you 10 minutes, good luck.

I have a 1995 GL1500SE Goldwing and my radio will not turn up!

Check the 5amp fuse on the bottom of your fuse block. My 96 did the same thing. The fuse is labeled backup.
