My Suzuki LTF250 quad bike is not idling smoothty and is also backfiring. I want to remove and clean the carb but this looks like a formiddable task as I cannot get to any of the screws that need loosening.

You can do it just need patience and time, if your motorcycle has more than one carburetor be sure not to interchange the parts because there are jets not in the same number. thanks!

I answered this yesterday. It is shown on the top of the diagram. 4th image ion the Amazon advert, small brass screw. Make sure you have got the cable adjuster too tight as that will cause a high idle.
it is a garantee that the main jet is stoped up with that grayish dried gas minerals..this not in the main jet valve you can remove,but actually in the bore on the carb body... you can try to use torch tip cleaner to open the hole ...hope you the best ....it is a very hard substance...someone tried starting the bike after being set up for a while without removing carb and cleaning first.....sincerely;R.B.V.
Has the bike been sitting? It sounds like a carb issue. Most times they backfire because they are running too lean.Also,check for vacuum leaks around the intake using brake clean while the bike is running.If the idling characteristics change when you spray it,then you know you have an intake leak.If the bike has been sitting for a while,then the carbs may need to come off,and be cleaned and synched.
synchronizing the carbs wont cause it to backfire. all this does is adjust all the carb butterflys to open together so all cylnders work the same, and has the biggest effect at idle. Backfire can be an air leak on the inlets or exhausts gaskets, too lean a mixture or maybe the plugs\screws that were removed to sync the carbs are not sealing. It can also be a low voltage problem, but this shouldnt have just started by a service. Have you asked them where it was serviced?
hi,sounds to me like the air fuel ratio is all up the ***,locate the air/fuel screw on the carb(normally on the side)screw the screw right in untill it stops,then back the screw out 1.5 turns,this should get the bike to run without the choke,once you have the bike running simply turn the screw in or out untill the bike settles into a nice steady idle,should be good to go,hope this helps...cheers
