Sounds like a problem with the side stand switch. This switch is in place to do just this. If the sidestand is down and you put in gear the engine will stall for safety.

It can be low fuel pressure issue or clogged fuel pump. Or its engine related issues,---------------

with the engine off put it in gear pull in the clutch if you can't move the bike the clutch is dragging and needs adjusting

Initially, check, clean, bypass or replace the sidestand switch (blue/yellow wire & ground).

check the idle air bypass solenoid

Start by adjusting your idle mixture screw. Start at 1 1/2 turns out and with the engine in gear at an idle slowly turn the screw clockwise until the engine starts to die, then back off a half turn and that will be your proper setting. If you need to you can bump up your idle stop screw just a touch so it will hold also.

You probably know this but... when you put it into gear you don't have your kickstand down do you. There is an automatic shutoff on the kickstand.
