Before storage last year everything was fine with my 2000 Goldwing. When taking the bike out of storage for the season everything seemed ok until my first ride. I discovered that the rear brake pedal has no tension. After checking the brake fluid all levels are fine. Any ideas before I take this thing apart?

Just bleed the brake system. That will take the air out of the system it is a common problem when you let a goldwing sit.
First bleed the front left brake then bleed the rear brake they both work off the brake pedal.
When you are done with that bleed the front right brake with the hand brake lever,
Get a service manual for your wing it explains how to do many services and it will save you money.

1998 1200 Custom - We bought this bike in 2000 and it had hardly ever been ridden. We rode it for a couple of years, then parked it in the garage when we bought a bigger bike. A year ago we took it out...

I had exactly the same problem. It turned out to be the ignition module. The first time that mine failed it was exactly as you described.
What happens when the ignition module goes is the bike will run fine then when the motor gets hot it will shut down. Then it won't start again until the motor has completely cooled down. Then it will start, run rough, get hot and shut down again.
You will find the ignition module behind the round cover where the points are on older bikes.
There is an LED light on it that will tell you if it is working properly or not. But replacing one probably isn't a project that you want to take on yourself.
Unless you are completely confident with working on vital electrical components of your bike then I would suggest taking it to an experienced mechanic whom you trust.

Gl1800 reverse stopped working. I haven't used the bike since last oct/nov and everthing else seems ok. presume reverse must have same fuse as starter motor but not shore. Any ideas?

There is host of problem incured with this. The linkage to the starter motor maybe out of adjustment. The switch push for reverse and the light will come on the dash. That switch can cause problems. The whole switch assembly has to be change/not cheap. Try some WD-40 and work the switch back in forth. Go to Goldwing Goldwing there are good help manuals for all goldwing. To check reverse start motor and leakage require a lot of space.

Start up

Turn key, press button, pray.

Seriously, what symptoms are you having? I assume the bike isn't starting. Does it crank? If so, does it fire at all? Starts then stalls? Smokes? Makes weird noises?

When I worked as a motorcycle mechanic, this was my busiest time of year when countless bikes would arrive in the backs of pickup trucks. Most of the time the problem is that they sat all winter with fuel in the carbs. Fuel in the tank isn't generally a problem. But before putting the bike up after the last ride of the year, if people would just shut off the fuel while the bike is still running, then wait until the engine dies before shutting off the ignition, at least 90% of the bikes that fail to start in the spring wouldn't have any trouble at all.

There are more steps that should be taken for putting a bike up for the season, but this one simple step is the most important and would prevent a lot of non-running bikes swamping the mechanics, who have to take apart carbs with extremely tiny jets and get everything cleaned up.

My bike used to run good until I moved from 3000ft to 7000ft above sea level and it sat in a storage shed for a year. Idles fine but wont run right unless it is wide open. Seems to be rich. help me!!

sometimes altitude can make a difference, but most likely your problem is from storage. The air is thinner at 7000ft, so it will only be air mixture adjustment. You need to prepare your bike for storage! I would remove the carby, remove the bottom from it and inspect for dirt, and or water, clean the jets out, and put back together. The cause is most likely water or dirt in your carby.

2001 XL1200S Cuts out and dies at highway speeds for a moment

Did you put a new battery in it? If not have it load tested and replace if needed. Check the grounds and make sure they are clean and tight. Check the stator by going to the plug on the right front down tube, with a muti meter take a reading with the bike running on the side that goes back toward the engine, I forget the values but you should get a reading at idle and then as you rev the motor the reading should climb. If all of the above check out OK the problem will be your voltage regulator.
