PW have the stop\start\run switch and will not rev in the start position, there may be a problem in this switch, wire, or the ignition box which controlls this.
The small 50s can also build up carbon in the exhaust port, or the exit end of the muffler.
They also need the original air filter and cover (dont know why, but they wont rev without it).
I realize you may have checked some of these, but not much else goes wrong

    Hi,
I have run into a similar situation with my daughters PW50 with other note. After it starts it will kill if reved though it is in the run position. It also kills if i take the choke off. I'll start with the exhaust port on the head as the removing the baffel did not help. Not the air filter either as that did not help. Second I'll try cleaning the carb since adjusting the jets only gave it more RPM but still kills. Just checking to see if your issue was resolved and what you found?
    Cheers!

PW50 yamaha. It starts, runs but cannot rave.

There could be a few different reasons why your kids PW50 Yamaha can start and run but cannot accelerate or "rave". Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the air filter: Make sure the air filter is clean and not clogged. A clogged air filter can restrict airflow to the engine, causing a lack of power.
  2. Check the carburetor: Make sure that the carburetor is clean and the jets are not clogged. A clogged carburetor can also restrict airflow to the engine, causing a lack of power.
  3. Check the spark plug: Make sure the spark plug is clean, dry and in good condition. A dirty or worn spark plug can cause a lack of power or no start.
  4. Check the fuel filter: Make sure the fuel filter is clean and not clogged. A clogged fuel filter can restrict fuel flow to the carburetor, causing a lack of power.
  5. Check the exhaust: Make sure the exhaust is not clogged, as this can restrict the engine's ability to breathe and cause a lack of power.
  6. Check the transmission oil: Make sure the transmission oil is at the correct level and not overfilled or contaminated.
  7. Check the drive chain: Make sure the drive chain is not loose or damaged.
It's important to note that these are general steps and the specific procedures may vary depending on the exact model and type of your PW50 Yamaha. It's recommended to consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer for the specific instructions and precautions for your bike. Additionally, it's best to seek professional help if you're not familiar with bike works.

Pw50 starts but as soon as you throttle it dies out as if it is starved off fuel or overchoking. can any one help me please .thanks

Just checking you realize they have a start and a run position on the kill switch. They will not rev while in the start position.

They also need a standard air filter element for the carb to work properley

Same problem here also..

The carb may need to be adjusted or taken apart and cleaned. Also check the throttle cable to make sure it hasn't been streched out.
