1994 Suzuki Sidekick "removing catalytic converter" Questions

if i remove the catalytic converter and raplace with a pipe would it cause probs? Yes it will affect emission laws, but other than that car will run normally.

Catalytic converter has been removed by previous owner. Could this be the cause? It could be if it is equipped with fuel injection. There would be oxygen sensors that are getting some strange readings
